Kevin is a digital and sculptural artist based in Dublin. His work seeks ways to combine the immediate and open-to-chance aspect of performance into an installation-based visual art setting. Video and electronics are often employed in order to mediate these performative elements to the viewer. The result of this assemblage is immersive installations with painstaking attention to detail. This leads to working on a large and ambitious scale with some recent projects taking the form of experience-based rooms, designed for one person at a time.

Participation on the part of the viewer takes on an almost social-experimental aspect within the work. An attempt to control or persuade the participant is made in order for the work to become what was intended for it, leading to an interesting relationship between the viewer, artist and artwork.

The ultimate impossibility of this control leaves the work open to unexpected but welcomed happenings, something which also plays a role in Kevin's interventions into the public domain. He creates elaborate devices with varying intended objectives. While the work navigates the streets, staging is resisted. Instead a patient waiting game is played until the right moment presents itself or forces itself in.

Kevin's practice is a place where contemporary digital elements meet with a very physical and sculptural style of working.
